Best of luck to you with yours!

Fun fact: the orientation of the power connectors may be reversed from your current GPU. Had an anxiety attack over that one 😂

4

u/AabegR Oct 21 '21

Oh really?! I'll be looking forward to that :)

Also what games do you plan on playing, I need to try some diff titles with this big chonk.

That’s awesome man!!!

u/Jakarat2502 Oct 21 '21

It costs like 10 minimum wages in Turkey. Fuck.

5

u/Zernin Oct 21 '21

Turkey minimum wage is just a little bit below half of the US federal minimum wage, so it costs about 5 minimum wages in the US. So long as BTC keeps turning energy and cards into cash, and people remain willing to pay the ridiculous prices for graphics cards, they are going to keep going up.

4

u/Jakarat2502 Oct 21 '21

Fucking miners they make everything worse.

Serious question. What's it really like buying a GPU in the US? I'm from Australia and have relatives in the US, I was thinking of getting them to buy it for me and ship it over! lol

Because for a card like yours in Australia I'm looking at $2600 AUD

https://www.centrecom.com.au/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-gaming-oc-12gb-graphics-card?gclid=CjwKCAjw_L6LBhBbEiwA4c46uuetNFcI97yddFX33ibc26KXh8uGtgS4zZaptjRRp3aDCpgWFukCgxoC1iwQAvD_BwE

Are GPUs all sold out online on sites such as Best Buy or Micro Center? Or are you still able to get them online but just not at MSRP?

4

u/TacticalSilverware PC Master Race Oct 21 '21

You can get them online from scalpers on sites like StockX and EBay.

Retailers such as Best Buy will have limited inventory drops that sell out just about immediately.

Micro Center only carries them in store, I was building a PC with a buddy and we went there to grab his parts and they got a fresh shipment of 30 / 60 series cards a few months ago. I’ve seen people have a ton of luck with Micro Center.

Best of luck to you!

You can’t find most cards here in the US either. Usually If you pay MSRP you are lucky. For some cards, the manufacturer MSRP is still pretty outrageously overpriced. For OP’s card, Best Buy has it listed at $1500 USD. Which is about $500 USD cheaper than what you’re seeing in Australia after currency conversion. I would say this is a reasonably priced 3080Ti in the current market. Most 3080Ti cards are starting at $1900 USD here and go all the way up to $2500 USD depending on the manufacturer. So it seems cards are a little cheaper here in the US, but not by much. And probably not enough to offset the international shipping cost. I looked at sending a PS5 to a friend in Moldova and I could have bought a round trip flight and brought it to him myself for about the same price.

u/MoistMough Oct 21 '21

Shipping would be expensive, as would import duties and taxes.

1500 * 1.1 = 1650 (GST)

1650/0.75 = $2200 (Currency)

Add in other import duties and tariffs, and cost of shipping, you might end up saving $200 AUD.

1

u/khoala84 Oct 21 '21

How do people score cards at msrp?

1

u/MoistMough Oct 21 '21

They get lucky.

Even MSRP is above what Nvidia advertises on their website.

3080 for $699? Not for the last 8 months.

1

u/khoala84 Oct 21 '21

Fair enough. Thanks for filling me in

4

u/LucyMor Oct 21 '21

Not sure were OP lives, but where I live in California 3080tis are sold for less than MSRP (not nVidia MSRP, partners MSRP). Even white ones like the Gigabyte VISION.

3

u/khoala84 Oct 21 '21

Are there stocks available? If so which sites can I buy from? I'm from Australia, stock isn't an issue but price is. A 3080 ti is averaging $2500 AUD

3

u/---E R5 5600x | RX 6700 XT | 16GB DDR4 Oct 21 '21

In Europe the cheapest 3080Ti I can find available is 1649 euro ~2560AUD

2

u/khoala84 Oct 21 '21

Yeah similar prices then. Msrp prices doesn't exist here in Australia lol

2

u/AmenCupid Desktop Oct 21 '21

Waving you from India..

2

u/khoala84 Oct 21 '21

Waves back lol

3

u/dowhatsimonsayz Oct 21 '21

Is it really still hard for people to buy these? I just bought a 3060ti here in Europe. Placed my order online and it was here in 2 days. Cost me €750

3

u/SuperBlitz22 Oct 21 '21

The price is what matters, finding it at a good price is hard

3

u/dowhatsimonsayz Oct 21 '21

I'd say 750 isn't too bad for a brand new card.

3

u/SuperBlitz22 Oct 21 '21

You need to consider which card you are talking about. A 3070ti/3008 would be a good purchase for 750, but a 3060 ti is not imo

2

u/dowhatsimonsayz Oct 21 '21

In Europe these prices are normal. If you were talking USA I'd say way too high but Austria and Germany are known for high tech prices.

This is my 2nd card by the way. My first was when the 3060ti just came out. I paid MSRP for European which was €500. That was months ago. I ended up selling that card for €1000. Then took that money and bought Solana. Now Solana has 10x my money. So I take my gains and bought a new card lol

3

u/War_Horn3 Oct 21 '21

I'm in Switzerland and on Amazon de (Germany) a 3080ti is around 2k. Where are you even getting these deals? O.o

3

u/dowhatsimonsayz Oct 21 '21

Alternate.at is where I bought my 3060ti. Also notebooksbilliger. There is a 3080ti for €1700 right now on Alternate.

2

u/War_Horn3 Oct 21 '21

I'm seeing a lot of people having their money vanishing on that website tho (Alternate). Granted there are more good reviews (61%), but when all the 1 star (28%) all say ''where's my money'', it gets a bit scary lol

2

u/dowhatsimonsayz Oct 21 '21

Lol I've ordered and it showed up 2 days later. Never had a problem with them.

2

u/SuperBlitz22 Oct 21 '21

Still 500 msrp vs 750 paid, I wouldn't, but you do you

1

u/dowhatsimonsayz Oct 21 '21

This is all gains so I'm not worried about the cost. 750 is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Like I said this is bought with the profits of buying low and selling high with Solana. I spent 1000 and made 10000. Now I have money and a graphics card. Win win Situation for me. I'm currently mining Raven coin in the 3060ti as well lol already made €20 😜

2

u/SuperBlitz22 Oct 21 '21

Good for you then!Grats on the card

I'm just saying what I would have done is have tried to get some more value for the 750€ spent, thats all

3

u/BigSmackisBack Oct 21 '21

I have the same card and it ran really hot and i had to replace the thermal pads to reduce memory temps - core was surprisingly ok but a repaste did also help that out a bit too.

The card is also surprisingly easy to open safely for the re-padding

1

u/TacticalSilverware PC Master Race Oct 21 '21

Yeah it’s… super toasty lmao

3

u/TacticalVegas Oct 21 '21

Awesome find. Holding strong fuck the scalpers.

6

u/TheReverend5 Oct 21 '21

No resellers involved? You got it directly from Gigabyte?

13

u/FormativeAnxiety Oct 21 '21

Difference in Retailer and Reseller

3

u/TheReverend5 Oct 21 '21

A retailer is a type of reseller.

1

u/godfrey1 11600k, 3070, 16GB@3600cl14 Oct 21 '21

Retailer with the current prices isn't any better than Reseller lol

2

u/TacticalSilverware PC Master Race Oct 21 '21

Best Buy!

2

u/TheReverend5 Oct 21 '21

Big congrats, enjoy!!

2

u/LeStruggler Oct 21 '21

We!? Oh boy, when are you sending it to me!?

For real though, congrats!

2

u/SuperBlitz22 Oct 21 '21

What's the MSRP on this ? Just curious

1

u/TacticalSilverware PC Master Race Oct 21 '21

$1500 USD

2

u/SuperBlitz22 Oct 21 '21

Nice, seems like a fair price for a 3080ti aib, grats!

2

u/Icy-Carpenter-2167 Oct 21 '21

There have been many available rtx cards where I live. I should be a scalper at least till I can afford to keep one, then quit and be good human again

1

u/TacticalSilverware PC Master Race Oct 21 '21

I’m never gonna fault anyone for doing what it takes to get comfortable in life!

2

u/Sudhanva_Kote Oct 21 '21

You guys getting GPUs?

2

u/z333ds Oct 21 '21

How did you buy it from bestbuy?

1

u/TacticalSilverware PC Master Race Oct 21 '21

My local store had one in stock!

2

u/z333ds Oct 21 '21

Nice! How many was there and were there other cards?

1

u/TacticalSilverware PC Master Race Oct 21 '21

Zero! They had just gotten it returned!

2

u/z333ds Oct 21 '21

You’re super lucky!

2

u/Snubbhippyboy Oct 21 '21

Lucky you a the same card in Sweden would be almost over 20k Swedish krona

2

u/Ant1MatterGames Oct 21 '21

Tsk tsk tsk. You should have put it in a baby seat. Fool.

2

u/Chips1918 3060ti, 5600x, 32GB Ram Oct 21 '21

I got mine from Microcenter 1st thing in the morning during launch day. After that, I had to stop and grab some groceries and stuff on my way back home. I hid it in the car and I was so nervous that someone would steal it while I was in the store. Crazy times we live in.

2

u/PierogiPlug FTW3 3080 / 5900x / 32gb 3600MHz Oct 21 '21

Hmmm, micro center ??

2

u/TacticalSilverware PC Master Race Oct 22 '21

Strap that baby in like you did and zoom home max speed off road.

1

u/TacticalSilverware PC Master Race Oct 21 '21

I made sure to avoid any accidents that could hurt my graphics card, myself, or my car. I drove like a grandma!
