Beyond common decency to people in wheelchairs, it's also really easy to accidentally damage a shitily parked car trying to get your wheelchair past it.

Also, no fear if the driver sees the damage. What's he gonna do, put me in a wheelchair?

On the sidewalk he's an asshole, hanging out of the space he's an asshole.

So basically anyone in a truck is immediately an asshole?

u/MurphysRazor Oct 21 '21

Now you're getting it!

u/WTFrenchToast1 PURPLE Oct 21 '21

1

u/MurphysRazor Oct 21 '21

Messing with you. Resistance IS futile here lol.

2

u/SGTRoadkill1919 Oct 21 '21

I am trucker of the borg. Prepare to be assimilated. Resistance is futile

"Truck-boat-truck" XD

u/WTFrenchToast1 PURPLE Oct 21 '21

My boaterhome too??

1

u/MurphysRazor Oct 21 '21

I've seen those. Seem like nice little boats.

What happens when a disabled person comes along in their wheelchair? Just fuck em?

Right. This looks like a Maverick (220") compare to Accord (22 inches shorter), Tesla (22 inches shorter), Audi A8 (12 inches shorter). I get that people want to help traffic, but let's see the other side of this photo. This is going to block someone in a wheelchair pretty easily.

-5

u/linklolthe3 Oct 21 '21

Then how do you even park a truck?

4

u/Significant-Part121 Oct 21 '21

I park my truck like I park my car of a similar length. A standard parking space is at least 216 inches long so the Maverick would only be 4" into the lane or the sidewalk, the Audi A8 would just barely fit.

But, you park a truck like you park a car of a similar length. If you want to overhang the rear a little that's fine as long as you're not going to be blocking anyone or anything like a wheelchair, baby stroller, hot dog cart, etc. This for example is completely unacceptable, and the truck could be towed or ticketed in most jurisdictions.

u/converter-bot Oct 21 '21

216 inches is 548.64 cm

u/RecklessDimwit Oct 21 '21

Sell the truck, profit

“I drive a vehicle that’s too big for many parking spots but as an American I give zero fucks about that and will park in them regardless”

3

u/glitteryunicornlady Oct 21 '21

I feel like most people who get massive vehicles have no use for it. I don't get it at all.

-9

u/sleepyJoeBidet Oct 21 '21

Parking spots used to be large enough till fuel regulations and foreign cars invaded the market like invasive cheatgrass.

3

u/Spottyhickory63 Oct 21 '21

if zoning laws were relaxed, forcing less people to own cars, or shrinking the minimum amount of parking spaces needed…

1

u/sleepyJoeBidet Oct 22 '21

How do zoning laws force people to own cars? The things you mentioned would definitely make it less convient to use a car, but do nothing to remove the reasons people buy cars.

1

u/Spottyhickory63 Oct 22 '21

who wants to walk/bike 5 miles for a some milk?

1

u/sleepyJoeBidet Oct 22 '21

But those arent the ones he mentioned. Even if I lived in an urban area, and could walk,/bike to get essentials I would still want a car to go places that you cant have within5 minutes like universities, parks, someplace else to break things up.

And using public transit makes the majority of your time being spent about the unpredictable drug addicts sitting on the bus/train. In addition to easily doubling or triple g transit time.

Public transit in the US sucks at making people feel safe, getting people where they want to go quickly, and going to a large variety of places. Only thing it is good at is taking forever to change because of endless hearings and environmental impact studies.

Just love the ones who leave a trailer hitch on

Congratulations, you’re now the subject of two MORE r/mildlyinfuriating posts

u/BrainyIsMe Oct 21 '21

Op definitely parks like this, not giving even half of a shit about people in wheelchairs

6

u/SmithVR Oct 21 '21

The exhaust is pointed at people's front door, and it looks like low income housing. What a fraudulent ahole.

12

u/Kitchen-Magnet Oct 21 '21

Blocking the sidewalk is a dick move.

7

u/nurimoons Oct 21 '21

What happens when a disabled person comes along in their wheelchair? Just fuck em?

8

u/8snizers Oct 21 '21

This truck is not super long, so it shouldn't be a problem to park normal. I drive a truck because it's how I make a living. I'm not rich. I can't just have a more convenient sized vehicle. The amount of privilege and lack of understanding how the working class lives in these subs is mind boggling. All that being said, don't park in places you don't fit.

7

u/Internal_Pool_4954 Oct 21 '21

Assholes either way.

5

u/pindu11 Oct 21 '21

Yessir. Take my upvote.

-6

u/MichaelChinigo Oct 21 '21

Buy a shorter vehicle.

3

u/itshexx Oct 21 '21

Every tried to put a dirty shovel in the back of a Prius?

1

u/Jubbienews Oct 21 '21

Or tow a trailer

-3

u/psychicgayrat Oct 21 '21

mildly infuriating: trucks. period. that’s it. anyone who willingly drives a truck as their personal car i automatically label as a selfish asshole. they don’t fit in parking spaces, barely fit on the road, never around turns, their headlights are never angled correctly so instead im just going blind at night and hoping the road is wide enough they’re not going to hit me

8

u/MichaelChinigo Oct 21 '21

If your vehicle forces you to choose between obstructing traffic and obstructing pedestrians/parents with strollers/wheelchair users, you might be an asshole.

2

u/UnsaidPeacock Oct 21 '21

Guess you only drive on pavement and don’t do labour work bud

2

u/el_gabacho_borracho Oct 21 '21

Yikes. Ya know some people need them for work. Do semi trucks make you upset too?

3

u/psychicgayrat Oct 21 '21

let me repeat what i said. willingly. personal car. can you read? i’m not talking about work necessities or semi trucks, i’m talking about the jackass that had to take up two spots at the very packed grocery store because his damn truck can’t safely fit in one.

1

u/glitteryunicornlady Oct 21 '21

I'm probably also going to get down voted for this, but I completely agree. It's one thing for people who actually use the truck to haul things, and know how to drive it, but from what I see in my life 90% of the time that's not the case.

-3

u/ooperbang6 Oct 21 '21 edited Oct 21 '21

Trucks are usually longer than the average car and will stick out of the parking space if not over the sidewalk. This can easily become a traffic hazard, especially when it’s snowy.

9

u/nurimoons Oct 21 '21

You know what else is a traffic hazard in snow? A person in a motorized wheelchair who had to use the parking lot because some jackass blocked the sidewalk with his truck.

-14

u/xTWOODYx Oct 21 '21

I know! As a truck driver it bugs me when people are mad about this haha

6

u/Beartrap-the-Dog Oct 21 '21

Depending on where you live this assholeish parking could be illegal

1

u/chaseButtons Oct 21 '21

What are you pushing a cart?

1

u/cjsk908 Oct 21 '21

Pedestrians>cars any day
