Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Consider this my answer for the past 5 weeks. I am 140 hours in. I finished Thessia yesterday. I am getting a little burnt out, I should have taken breaks between the 3 games.

4

u/Chomchom85 Aug 04 '21

I’ve just started that. Loving it so far.

2

u/JJohnson25 Aug 04 '21

That’s what I’m playing still on the first game because I get so wrapped up I’m doing the side quest. This is my first mass effect game and I’m loving it but I do wish it looked alittle better

1

u/GobbusterMX Aug 04 '21

Playing it. Just finished second mission of the third installment, I'm loving it, however I haven't been able to play it as much as I would like (GF gets mad).

1

u/guitardude_04 Aug 05 '21

Oof. Sorry to hear that. I had a buddy who had a gf that saw his game time as no different than having a mistress and cheating on her.

1

u/GobbusterMX Aug 05 '21

Dude that's quite close to how things are going right now.

2

u/guitardude_04 Aug 05 '21

My advice, either sit her down and find the source of her frustration with it, explain that it's your 'thing' and that there is no competition. Ask her to join you. And if after you guys try and talk it out, I'd say have a long hard talk if she still freaks about it. My wife doesn't play games, but she knows it's my unwind time, and that I'm a better father and husband if I get to relax with my games. I feel for ya bro. My buddy ended up marrying the girl, and she cheated on him 6 months in and they divorced. She tried to take him away from everything he loved. Friends, his hobbies, and only do what she approved.

1

u/--sbeve-- Aug 05 '21

i’m sure your gf has a hobby she does to relax, if you can try explain that gaming is your version of that

1

u/guitardude_04 Aug 05 '21

What's your honest opinion? I never played it back in the day. I'm dying for a good crazy customizable rpg!

1

u/poncorkeofrivia Aug 05 '21

I am biased because it's my favourite game. This is not my first playthrough. More like 11. It is more action than rpg but the story and your squadmates are amazing.

1

u/TheGuyWithLeastKarma Aug 05 '21

You definitely should have, I played 1 during release and took a break till now, it's easy to get burnt out when you spend hours on the same franchise or genre

1

u/Cynical_Warlock Aug 05 '21

Good choice.

1

u/LotusB1ossom Aug 05 '21

I started 3 but like you got burnt out and switched to Persona 5 Royal. It's a long game so by the time I'm done I should be amped to resume ME:LE

1

u/lwatsonmll Aug 05 '21

I got burnt out off and on for trilogy, but I had also played them multiple times on the original versions.

Still my fav sci fi RPG of all time. I now want to replay as fem shepard all renegade

0

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

Wait so this is worth getting? I kept hearing about how bad Andromeda was and thought they were the same.

4

u/GobbusterMX Aug 04 '21

My man this is one of the best trilogies in existence, they redefined their genre and the only reason people hated Andromeda so much was because it just couldn't compete with the sheer awesomeness of it's predecessor.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '21 edited Aug 05 '21

Alright alright. I'll take your word for it. The way people talk about it reminds me of new players starting Uncharted 1-4.

18

u/DaredevilsGrandma Aug 04 '21

I started and completed the Titanfall 2 campaign within a couple of evenings over the weekend and I'm not quite sure what to do with myself now. Absolutely loved it

7

u/fs2d Aug 04 '21

So, so so good.

"Trust me."

4

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

You did the right thing. Trust me.

4

u/New-Nameless Aug 04 '21

PROTOCOL 3: Protect the pilot

i still cry

2

u/SHTNONM420 Aug 04 '21

So sad 😭

3

u/lexiphanicstroon7 Aug 04 '21

hop into multiplayer, the servers are back up for now

9

u/HUZInator PC Aug 04 '21

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. Finally getting to play it and as a long time star wars fan I love it. It's the first time since rouge one that I've experienced a title from the IP that really felt "Star Warsie". It's my first dabble in the soulslike genre and I'm hooked. It also has a lot of mechanics from other genres you'll notice too though. The map is very Metroid, the platforming is very uncharted along with the quick time events and action spectacle sequences and the puzzles are pretty Breath of the Wild. Some might say this is negative and that it should be more original, I say mostly not apart from the back tracking which is mainly for cosmetic items not upgrades unlike Metroid but tbh I'm a sucker for cosmetic loot. Great game, recommend. Awesome soundtrack, very John Williams-like. Good story, feels like a star wars journey with a rag-tag team. Good entry to soulslike and metroidvania's I feel like.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

I loved that game, played it over 7 times now

2

u/Mad_Madam_Mim_MMA Aug 05 '21

Great breakdown, added to my wishlist ✌

8

u/MaybeAMuseumWorker Aug 04 '21

Just finished the DLCs for Control and going to start Red Dead Redemption II this week. Don't really remember the story of the first game much, but I hear this is a prequel, so I think I'll be fine.

3

u/FlippinDatDough Aug 04 '21

You don't really need to know anything but your in for a trtear rd2 is one of the best pc games of all time.

1

u/Mad_Madam_Mim_MMA Aug 05 '21

I just couldn't get into rdr2 for some reason... and I gave it an honest go with +10 hours. Can't win em all - hope OP enjoys it!

8

u/therealjgreens Aug 04 '21

I don't play a ton of games anymore, but I have been playing Ghosts of Tsushima a decent bit. Great fucking game.

1

u/NerdDexter Aug 05 '21

What difficulty

1

u/therealjgreens Aug 06 '21

I think normal. It's very easy. I find it relaxing. I also play some Overwatch on PC which isnt relaxing lol

7

u/Hobbit_amid_Gandalfs Aug 04 '21

I'm playing Final Fantasy 8! I am about 40 hours in and I just completed the Garden Festival and am ready to explore the world!

4

u/SHTNONM420 Aug 04 '21

My fave ff game by far

6

u/Snoo61755 Aug 04 '21

Stardew Valley still.

I've got a dozen VR games I've yet to dig into, and here I am growing pumpkins and making jam instead.

2

u/rlxmx Aug 04 '21

Ancient fruit plants in various stages of development now almost fill my greenhouse.

2

u/egriff22 Aug 05 '21

Sometimes I feel like video games are like the new books. I used to (and still do) have sooo many books I never read but always wanted to dig into. Now it’s like that with gaming. So much stuff on standby but I’m still playing something that came out 6 year’s ago

1

u/fpsgamer89 Aug 04 '21

As a big Stardew fan myself, I'm playing Spiritfarer at the moment cos it has some elements of farming. Although it's like a very restrictive, "non-sandboxey" version of Stardew, you should give it a shot. Similar chill vibes.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

Dusk, a pure masterclass of fps,

2

u/starrstorm1 Aug 04 '21

Check out amid evil, another incredible new blood FPS! I played dusk first and loved it but I’m finding amid evil to be on a whole nother level of awesome

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

sure! I reckon ill give amid evil a crack

2

u/scoutarment Aug 04 '21

Can’t wait to try this. Heard great reviews!

1

u/variablethisisknife Aug 04 '21

I need to try this

7

u/afcc1313 Aug 04 '21

Hey, first time commenting but I will share anyway!

The Ascent on Series X and Plague Tale on PS5. I'm also trying to finish Valhalla but 30 hours in and there's no end in sight lol

3

u/FlippinDatDough Aug 04 '21

Bro trust me and just drop valhalla, literally nothing happens. You're gonna be conqureing new terratories for another repritive 30 hours and the payoff is not worth it. Just watch the cutscenes on youtube, your much better off lol

3

u/afcc1313 Aug 04 '21

Well by now I'm still enjoying the gamelplay, despite being repetitive

1

u/patriotsfan1991 Aug 04 '21

I've heard 80 for valhalla

1

u/afcc1313 Aug 04 '21

Fuck my life LOL and I have the DLC too

3

u/mistasharma Aug 04 '21

Still trying to 100% Batman Arkham City. Thought it was going to be easy. But its not.

2

u/TrailBlazingNugs Aug 04 '21

I just started Arkham Knight....I'm really liking it but really not looking forward to all the Riddler trophies and such.

1

u/mistasharma Aug 05 '21

There are a lot of guides on youtube. im just following them to find the trophies and such

3

u/the-steveharrington Aug 04 '21

Using my brand new PS5 to play……

far cry 3 classic edition

3

u/minecrafter8699 Aug 04 '21

Starbase just got released last week so that's what I've been doing this week

1

u/Falazio Aug 04 '21

How are you liking it so far?

3

u/TheWayIAm313 Aug 05 '21

Playing TLOU2 for the first time. Really enjoying it, but I’d be lying if I said some of these flashbacks don’t draaaaag. I get they add to the storyline, but man they are boring.

2

u/RobInWa Aug 04 '21

Thought I'd still be playing The Ascent. But finished it quickly and was relieved to do so. No endgame. No new game+. Builds don't matter, didn't need to read any tips or hints. Whatever game I dabble in, I always come back to Rocket League.

Games Pass is such a great way to try different games and be glad you didn't have to pay for them (other than the monthly subscription).

2

u/SirJuicee Aug 04 '21

Ah, I see you also have the strong desire to hate your life an hour a night. I also play Rocket League. Usually when the timer hits 4:55 I wonder why I did this to myself.

1

u/GordoHeartsSnake Aug 04 '21

Lol! Back handed compliments are funny when they're not directed at me.

1

u/patriotsfan1991 Aug 04 '21

Kind of glad I didn't spend the time on it

2

u/Orellin_Vvardengra Aug 04 '21

Started Rage 2 after getting it for free a long while back. Was enjoying it until I realized I would have more fun with borderlands then played Minecraft.

2

u/ZorkNemesis Switch Aug 04 '21

Still playing CrossCode from a few weeks ago. Despite being a 40+ hour game there's a New Game Plus mode that also might be one of my favorite implementations of the feature. When starting a new game you can choose to carry over certain aspects of your previous save and also tweak the game further to make it easier or harder, but what you're allowed to tweak is based on how much of the in-game achievements you've unlocked (thankfully most of them just being stats that add up like total kills, distance traveled, chests found, etc).

What really makes the NG+ stand out though is that the game's writing changes a considerable amount to reference various settings you've made. Many characters will point out if you're way overleveled at points (or under if you locked to level 1, there's even one spot that calls you out if you're at the correct level in the game's context which isn't possible outside of NG+) or if you have access to abilities and equipment before you're supposed to. Probably the best change is if you use a NG+ cheat that allows all of your attacks to do exponentially more damage than intended, one-shotting nearly everything in the game. Every major character will have commentary on the fact that you're going around instagibbing everything, including enemies that would normally be too strong and would force you to be running away from them, and it's absolutely hillarious, not to mention how genuinely bloodthirsty your own character seems to act once they learn of the power they wield. Best NG+ in a long time. If you're not convinced, here's a video someone made covering roughly the first two hours of the game with the damage cheat enabled.

u/TitaniumDragon Aug 04 '21

Started Watch Dogs 2 last week. It is an Ubisoft open world sandbox game (TM).

I am planning on playing Superliminal this week and running D&D this weekend.

2

u/TheBaldWonder Aug 04 '21 edited Aug 04 '21

Hell Let Loose, it just left early access with the release of the Russian Front maps.

There have been a whack of problems with launch, but the Devs are pretty responsive. Right now, very happy to tool about in a T34 and cause mayhem

2

u/elukavics Aug 05 '21

Being a part of a tank crew is legit fun.

2

u/TheBaldWonder Aug 06 '21

For real man, I have maxed out Tank Commander, wish it could go above 10. Love me a good tank crew.

1

u/SirJuicee Aug 04 '21

Wow relatively speaking that wasn't in early access that long. Good for them.

1

u/kloopankur Aug 05 '21

Cool game but I just dont want to invest that much cash

2

u/jesbannon Aug 04 '21

Assassins Creed Valhalla. Working towards finishing the story. A bit of Destiny on the side.

0

u/FlippinDatDough Aug 04 '21

Goodluck finishing that repetitive story. I realized I was doing the same thing over and over for 20 hours and just looked up the cutscenes online.

1

u/jesbannon Aug 04 '21

LOL, I get that. I’ve put in a lot of time…not stopping now.

2

u/andyr354 Aug 04 '21

The Outer Worlds and modded Skyrim. I’m only 7 hours into OW but loving it so far. It’s a lot like FO NV. I’m doing a ranged sniper run for my first time.

2

u/RikFeral Aug 04 '21

Strive. I haven't experienced Rollback yet, so I'm hoping it goes well.

2

u/Astinus Aug 04 '21

Valheim still.

2

u/ThatLegoBoi Aug 04 '21

HESITATION IS DEFEAT!!!!

2

u/Vidimivici Aug 05 '21 edited Aug 05 '21

Starting the third act of Ghost of Tsushima. 40 hours in and enjoying the game quite a bit. Also starting up Ni no Kuni Remastered.

2

u/Jazzlike_Pride_9287 Aug 05 '21

I’m playing No Mans Sky this week. Still love it and al of the free updates!

2

u/Dildosauruss Aug 05 '21 edited Aug 05 '21

Hunt: Showdown, easily the best fps I have ever played and this is coming from someone with 6k hours across multiple iterations of Counter-Strike, a ton in Tarkov and Apex Legends as well.

Sound design and gunplay are on completely another level of satisfying and I don't think I'll be playing anything else until the devs stop supporting it.

2

u/starrstorm1 Aug 05 '21

I've heard lots of very high praise about this game, but I just cant seem to convince any of my friends to get it to play with me, how is this game solo?

2

u/Dildosauruss Aug 05 '21 edited Aug 05 '21

You are gonna own ar first if you know how sound works and are any good at fps, but once matchmaking places you out of baby pool it's gonna be a super harsh learning curve, there's no solo queue, so you will be playing against duos.

I honestly would only recommend it for solo gamers if they have significant fps experience, but overall the game is fucking great

It's hands down the best sound design in an fps game I have ever experienced and it has horror game tension attached to it, also it's the second most hardcore game in the market behind Tarkov, so stakes are high in every match, if you don't like risking everything, then this might not be the game for you.

2

u/neko_sensei Aug 05 '21

Fuga: Melodies of Steel, on the switch. It's a on rail strategic tank RPG/action game with dungeon exploration set in the universe of Little Bronx (the same universe as Solatorobo and Tail Concerto), featuring kids piloting a tank during a war that takes inspiration on WW2's France invasion. The thing that sucks most is the ultimate weapon, which forces you to sacrifice one of the kids when you use it.

1

u/b14ck34g13 Aug 04 '21

These days I've been playing Lone Survivor with the desire to finish it, but the further I went, the more I felt the boredom. Today I think I might start Resident Evil VIII, or I'll continue SnowRunner.

1

u/Andynonymous303 PC Aug 04 '21

Nier Automatica currently, thanks game pass..

1

u/Shaho99 PC Aug 04 '21

GTA 5 and genshin

I don’t wanna touch anything else I’m too lazy

1

u/CrazyPieGuy Aug 04 '21

I'm back on the Factorio train. I beat the game once before after 4 or 5 different times of trying to build up a full base. It drew me back in, but this time I'm playing with the Krastorio 2 mod. It's been nice to have to learn to build and optimize new recipe paths. Still my favorite game of all time. I'm close to 500 hours of Factorio played.

2

u/Atriarchem Aug 04 '21

I wanted to enjoy this game so much because of how much Reddit sings its praises but holy crap I got overwhelmed on the second tutorial level and bounced off hard from that game.

1

u/bumboz426 Aug 04 '21

Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I completed business management and the Sotenbori battle arena twice yesterday. Hoping to make some story progress today before hopping on to play some Overwatch later 😎

Borderlands 2 Crash bandicoot n sane trilogy CB2 specifically

Started going through the Legend of Zelda timeline recently. About halfway through Skyward Sword and I've got a copy of Minish Cap on it's way in the mail.

Really love the updated Skyward Sword controls on the switch. I remember being so frustrated with the motion controls on the Wii back in the day.

Yakuza series and mass effect legendary edition, I play on Playstation so, if there's any game you enjoyed and would like to recommend, I would like to know

1

u/JohnBosler Aug 05 '21

I'm playing Conker's bad Fur Day for the Nintendo 64. it's a great puzzle game and it's absolutely hilarious. give it a try

It is a game that was originally a cutesy cartoony game that when they tried playtesting it failed miserably so they decided to flip the game around and move and completely opposite direction it is the one of a few rated mature games for the Nintendo

Fart jokes Poop Titties Girls bending over in short shorts Suicide Men cheating on their wives Being impaired because you're hungover Make it explode Having sex Diarrhea shits jokes Every cuss word you can think of

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '21

i was playing some Command and Conquer multiplayer but I was having more connectivity issues than I was fighting the opposing player.

1

u/Buster_Fella Aug 05 '21

There's not much going on for me. I'm playing Dragon Quest XI but I think I'm going to drop it. I might come back to it later or sell it because it gives a lot of money. I have been eyeing up Astral Chain as well. The main thing that concerns me is the length. I don't wanna pay AAA prices for a 15 hour game. BTW, I know a game isn't determined by its length but that game is expensive. Anyways, I just bought Fallout 4 and Skyrim and I'll be able to play them tomorrow. So for today, there's not a lot going on. :/

1

u/ETHBTCVET Aug 05 '21

I'm trying Yakuza 7 but honestly I prefered combat from older ones.

1

u/Cryio Aug 05 '21

It's been a week now and I'm still replaying the Dead Space games.

I'm on NG+ on Normal on Dead Space 1

I'm on NG+1 on Zealot on Dead Space 2

Will probably do another 3 runs of DS1 and who knows how many of DS2 before I'll properly tackle all the necessary runs of DS3.

DXVK does miracles for DS1 and DS2 on PC.

1

u/Soupermans_dongle Aug 05 '21

I've been playing Returnal, and Ni No Kuni : Wrath of the White Witch (Switch version.)

1

u/EvadingAdminBan Aug 05 '21

Cruelty Squad.

1

u/starrstorm1 Aug 05 '21

How is it? im super interested in that game

1

u/EvadingAdminBan Aug 05 '21

It's one of the most unique games I've ever played. Don't be fooled by the visuals, the game play is super well polished, and very fun. Lots of replay ability by unlocking new body mods, hidden levels, hidden weapons, and more. Definitely worth the price.

1

u/Skydude252 Aug 05 '21

Decided to play The Surge 2, really enjoying it so far, I think I’m about halfway through it at the moment. Deck13 has come a long way from Lords of the Fallen, which was an enjoyable enough but rather weak soulslike, really making a game that feels more unique while being in the same overall genre.

1

u/talltommycumslinger Aug 05 '21

I’m betting on GMBL

1

u/kloopankur Aug 05 '21

Fallout 76 just started, doom halfway, apex legends got seer yo,battlefield 4 ,risk of rain 2

1

1

u/flippernibblets Aug 05 '21

Foxhole.

The Collies will push on.

1

u/elukavics Aug 05 '21

Hunt Showdown and The Ascent.

Hunt is my ride or die game, just can't seem to quit it (900+hours in)... I'll be playing it until I or the servers die.

The Ascent seems really cool, only a hour or two into it, but enjoying what I've seen so far.

2

u/NerdDexter Aug 06 '21

What do you like so much about hunt?

1

u/elukavics Aug 06 '21

The game world, its sense of style and purpose, the game and gun play and the loop it puts you into just scratches such a unique itch that I can't quite find anywhere else.

I love the old timey, civil war era weaponry... how the guns feel and how they sound, they just really managed to nail it.

I love the weird wild west lovecraftian aesthetic of the gameworld and the lore (the spider boss is literally made of human limbs!).

The gameplay loop just never gets old for me as the firefights and emergent gameplay situations you get into in this game are intense and unpredictable... I've had firefights end in less then 3 seconds with a successful ambush and I've had a single firefight last 30+ minutes.

I love that I can go into a round armed with the cheapest weapons available, and thru just superior tactics, game sense, and the ability to keep a cool head it can be pretty much a level playing field against someone decked out with the most expensive weaponry the game can afford.

I love the community that has built up around the game, their meme game is top-notch.

I also love the developer support the game receives. You can really just feel how in love with their own game they are.

I also love just how brutal a place the bayou can be. The game is not for the faint of heart, or those who get frustrated super easily... you will die often and you will die quick, but I will guarantee that if you are capable of it, you can learn from every death you experience and your gameplay can improve.

Sorry, this got a bit long lol

1

u/NerdDexter Aug 06 '21

Does it have a subreddit?

1

u/0I00 Aug 05 '21

Fallout 76

u/Biryani__Whisperer Aug 06 '21

I know this is a bit random but i was just in a reddit thread where one person had criticized the writers and charactors from TLOU2 for the contradictions (i.e. killing NPCs and henchmen without any remorse while feeling bad about killing the one villain who shouldve been killed even by normal people's standards).

Then a bunch of redditors came in and started attacking this person by saying that theyre losers with an agenda who cant understand a "nuanced" storyline. Also people were hinting that the critiques had a political agenda against the game (female lead, LGBT charactors, etc.). Again such a cheap insinuation.

As stupid as this whole thing is, I actually stopped playing TLOU2 an hour in before any of the contradictions in the storyline came up because of how outdated and mundance the gameplay was. No one talks about how Naughty Dog used basically the same engine from TLOU1 and Uncharted for TLOU2 with no noticable imrpovments to the stealth mechanics, shooting, and had to hand combat.

The moment Joel got killed about 30 mins into the game, I was like whoa that just happened but I knew nothing else in the story would top this moment and I was right.

Everything about the game felt reused and no major gameplay or technical improvments were made. This put the onus on the writers to carry the game through the cut scenes and dialoge.

So the inconsistent writing (in addition to the gameplay being repetitve and old) made the whole game experience fall apart.

The game is a 5/10 in my book. Nothing wrong with it in any one department but a very unispiring experience overall.

My mains for the past month have been rdr2 for the second time and rdr1 for the first time!

But I tend to play multiple games at once because I am chaos incarnate, so add mass effect legendary and arkham origins to that list too

Finally getting around to Resident Evil 8. So far it’s been living up to expectations… just don’t sell the meat! Save it.

Also been playing My Time in Portia as a background game. It’s definitely not my favorite in that style of game, but alright enough that I’ll finish. Feels like I’m constantly waiting for something to be done or the next mission to pop.
