Ugh. I got it with sound... I happen to be watching S1E4 of 'Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia'. There was a montage to 'Never Gonna Give You Up' while I was watching the gif.

It was some Escherian shit for my eyes and ears.

But yes karma means something and has always.

Repost bot accounts farm karma so they can sell the account to marketers or propaganda pushers or they use the accounts to scam people

It does. It's a testimony of how much fun I've had on this site throughout the years and the good times we all had in the comment sections. It serves no other purpose at all. I just got the hang of the site's algo and know when to post stuff. I found this clip on imgur with no credits or context and I just shared it here. I believe that helps the original creator since I NEVER claimed ownership of anything and am happy so many people find the creators work so amazing. Reddit is a content aggregator by definition so when you open r/news you don't whine about how each poster there STOLE articles from the newspapers, do you? You still read the article and know who actually wrote it. It doesn't matter which reddit account shared it here. Not should it. It's the content that matters here on reddit, not the account that posted it.

I hope you're happy, because Rick Astley sexually assaulted my mother in the year 1996 (with both photo and video evidence) and paid off the judge to have it thrown out-- somewhere in the ballpark of seven to ten million dollars, just to save his reputation and avoid some negative PR.

Lmao my mom deserved it tho, what a slut. Wearing a dress😂 above her knees❓ who does she think she is, Mia Khalifate🥵 she was askin' for a ruff-ass tug'n'plug (plugging her holes that is) if I ever heard one.

Shirley Bennett : We can't count you out, he listens to you.

Jeff Winger : Well, he also listens to the Barenaked Ladies, go get their dumb asses to help you.

Troy Barnes : [everyone gasps in horror] Okay Jeff, you are clearly in a bad space today, but Pierce is our friend, and the Barenaked Ladies are triple platinum, are you?

Jeff Winger : Why does everyone leap to defend that band so aggressively and how much stuff do we have to go through this year before my friendship stops being questioned?

Annie Edison : Well, maybe friendship is about going through a lot of stuff Jeff, and maybe BNL has two Billboard Awards to your zero!

Jeff Winger : Oh, okay, they're BNL now? We need a shorthand for the Barenaked Ladies. That's how fundamental they are.

Abed Nadir : Fundamental.

Jeff Winger : You know what Pierce probably needs more than anything? Some space. Maybe I do too.

Britta Perry : [yelling angrily] You know what? Maybe we all need some space, to pull the knife out of the back of the most celebrated Canadian alt-rock band of the mid 90s, you selfish, jaded ass!

Damn, this is great. I have a green screen in my house and now some inspiration

12

u/Ascholay Oct 21 '21

You can pick any color, it doesn't have to be green. Green is just the most common because at the time it was chosen green was the least popular color to wear

47

u/WhatisAleve Oct 21 '21

Quick correction - it was chosen because while there isn't a green color component in peoples' skin tone, there is of pretty much every other color.

https://theconversation.com/ive-always-wondered-why-is-a-green-screen-green-92989

6

u/Jumpy_Sorbet Oct 21 '21 hehehehe

Sad Vulcan noises

7

u/Hythy Oct 21 '21

Just to elaborate on the above article, it is important to understand the Bayer Pattern and how it is used in modern digital cameras. Basically 50% of photosites on a modern digital camera are dedicated to detecting green light. This means there are more points sampled on the green, so if you are pulling a matte the green channel will give you more to work with (sharper lines etc).

Re: the sodium vapour process, if I recall correctly there was only ever one camera that could pull that off.

24

u/k_albasi Oct 21 '21 edited Oct 21 '21

Not really. Green and blue are both commonly used for keying because they're primary colors in mixing light, so it's easier to isolate. Red is the other primary but skin tone has hues of red given our blood. Bluescreen actually predates green.

6

u/ScoopsMcGillicutty Oct 21 '21 edited Oct 21 '21

Iirc bluescreen was pioneered by Jim Henson and Co., so maybe human skin color wasn’t a big factor in that decision

6

u/ajaykfr Oct 21 '21

Very interesting and amazing.

41

u/StpPstngMmsOnMyPrnAp Oct 21 '21

You can do this with a normal dress too. The idea of greenscreening works with any color that stands out of it's environment that's more or less even and not too creasy

19

u/Scary_ Oct 21 '21

Yes, green and blue are just more commonly used as there's less of them in fleshtones.

I think green has mostly replaced blue now everything's digital, something to do with the way colour is sampled. Most broadcast kit when it encounters no signal outputs green

17

u/DurjoggedDurjogged Oct 21 '21

Nothing to do with digital

that shade of green is used because it's less commonly used IRL then the old shade of blue

every now and then someone would accidentally be wearing something that matched the blue screen

7

u/UnacceptableUse Interested Oct 21 '21

that shade of green is used because it's less commonly used IRL then the old shade of blue

Also because cameras use the bayer filter pattern which has twice as much green as red or blue, so is more sensitive to green light, whereas it was blue in the film days because film was more reactive to blue light.

3

u/Scary_ Oct 21 '21

Green is the ideal colour because of the sky. But wasn't blue better in the analogue world because componant signals didn't carry green or green difference signals?

2

u/WellWellWellthennow Oct 21 '21

Do you to use special “green screen” fabric or will any green that shade do? How does a green screen actually work?

2

u/dtrippsb Oct 21 '21

Any green that shade will do. If you wear a green shirt that’s close to that shade of green (or whatever color you pick, it doesn’t need to be a green screen it can be any color screen), then the shirt won’t show up. It’s done with a computer program, so in this case, she would overlay the video she recorded of walking around in a dress over a video or image of whatever she wanted (fire, stars, etc.) then choose not to show the color green on her recorded video, allowing the background image/video to show through

2

u/WellWellWellthennow Oct 21 '21

Thank you for the explanation. I thought green screen was just a digital process for easy substitution so your explanation makes sense of this now.

1

u/Awakeskate Oct 21 '21

Nothing about it is hard to understand. Why do you think I asked anything about making it?

I said only I’ll give you $100 if you can replicate this video even remotely close. I’ll do $200 cause you seemed to deflect my offer. It’s a yes or no question you don’t have to put words in my mouth. If it’s that easy, make $200 and do it.

-1
